From 1982 to the Gold Coast
Gold Coast Comics isn't just a business; it’s a four-decade journey through the heart of Australian pop culture. Our story began in Western Australia in 1982, fueled by a passion for collecting and a vision to bring something new to the west.

The Trailblazing Years
In 1984, we made history by opening the first-ever dedicated comic book store in Western Australia in Victoria Park. As the community grew, so did we. We soon relocated to a larger space in Northbridge near the State Library, eventually expanding into a massive upstairs showroom. It was a collector’s paradise, featuring everything from sci-fi literature to possibly the largest collection of Commando comics in the country.

The Digital Frontier
We have always been early adopters. After 14 years of brick-and-mortar success, we transitioned to mail-order just as the internet began to change the world. In 1999, we were personally invited by eBay’s marketing department to join their inaugural launch in Australia.

Expansion and Evolution
After a successful chapter in Townsville starting in 2009, we set our sights on the Gold Coast in 2017. While the global events of 2020 paused our plans for a physical showroom, they didn't stop our mission.

Gold Coast Comics Today
In 2026, we are returning to our roots as a premier online destination. Our focus is 100% on what we love most: Back issues, graphic novels, and rare collectibles. We aren't just a shop; we are archivists of the hobby. While we no longer stock new weekly issues, we are dedicated to unearthing the best vintage treasures for your collection.
